Sometimes, it is good to remember that we are privileged to be members of a federation that offers citizens the possibility to get away from decisions by their provincial governments that they find unacceptable. Let’s consider this!

For example, after the new Québec government announced its intention to increase income tax on the wealthy and the taxable portion of capital gains and dividends, some Quebecers considered leaving Québec.

Evidently, leaving is not that simple. Beyond the language barrier and the pain of leaving behind family and friends, there is a need to find a place where you are welcome. This is a challenge in a world where most countries are increasing their barriers to immigration.
